This cinnamon-spiced apple tart combines the comforting flavors of fall with a beautiful presentation. With its flaky crust, spiced apple slices, and a glossy glaze, it’s a show-stopping dessert that’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
For the crust:
• 200g all-purpose flour
• 100g unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
• 2–3 tbsp ice-cold water
• Pinch of salt
For the filling:
• 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
• 2 tbsp granulated sugar
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the glaze:
• 2 tbsp apricot jam
• 1 tbsp water
For garnish:
• Powdered sugar
• Cinnamon sticks
Step 1: Prepare the crust
1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add cubed butter and rub it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
2. Gradually add ice-cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the filling
1. In a bowl, toss the apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
Step 3: Assemble the tart
1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
2. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a tart pan. Trim the edges.
3. Arrange the apple slices in a spiral pattern, overlapping slightly. Pour any remaining liquid from the bowl over the apples.
Step 4: Bake the tart
1. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
Step 5: Add the glaze
1. In a small saucepan, heat the apricot jam and water over low heat until smooth. Brush the glaze over the warm tart.
Step 6: Serve
1. Let the tart cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with cinnamon sticks before serving.
