Christmas is almost here, which means for many of us, soon our Out of Offices will be on and we can get into the festive spirit. Here are the events we want to head to this year!
This has to be one of our favourite festive activities. For the second year running, Selfridges is bringing Christmas cheer to Edwards Mews with its Christmas market. Bigger and brighter than last year, the market will run the length of the mews and features gift stalls, fairground rides and a spectacular twinkling Christmas tree. As for food, there’s a wonderful line-up of vendors chosen by Street Feast including Utter Waffle, Calamari Canteen, Pabellon and Chin Chin. Three bars will be serving up winter classics like mulled wine and hot chocolate.
Live in London? Then bring the festive activity to you. HOMEtainer Beata can guide you and your friends in a relaxing two hour masterclass where you’ll learn how to create a candle. Start by designing your own scent profile before marrying it with the wax and then pouring, setting and fixing the candle. Then make a hot chocolate, cosy up on your sofa and light your candle.
It’s time to get out from under the duvet, put down the chocolate box selection and upgrade your Christmas film night with Backyard Cinema’s Christmas Movie Spectacular. The cinema has taken over East London’s Troxy this festive season. They're offering up a double feature of non-stop singing, dancing, music and performance and film. Award-winning wordsmith George the Poet will be serving up festive nostalgia and Some Voices choir will be performing songs from the movie soundtracks. When it comes to the film you can choose from three classics: Elf, Love Actually and Home Alone.
Is there anything quite as enchanting as going to the ballet at Christmas, particularly when it’s The Nutcracker? The answer is no, or at least we think so. Luckily, Birmingham Royal Ballet will be returning to the Royal Albert Hall for this wonderful production featuring Tchaikovsky’s glorious score.
When it comes to ice-skating in London, you can’t beat the magic of skating to the backdrop of Somerset House. Open until 16th January (making it perfect for those days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve) Skate at Somerset House offers everything from Skate School through to Skate Lates with UNIQLO where DJs will take to the deck rink-side. Afterwards head to Chalet Barragiste with Jimmy Garcia for a menu of seasonal favourites including raclette. Then visit the Skate Lounge by Moët & Chandon for Champagne and cocktails.
